Hains

Generation #1

Jacob (0Research) Hains of Pennsylvania

Jacob Hains was born in about 1715. Some researchers believe he was born in Chester Co PA. Also, Jacob was possibly born in the lands which would become Germany and immigrated before the birth of his children.

Circumstantial evidence links the Hains/Heyns Family to either the original Dutch colonists of New Amsterdam or the massive migration of Germanic Protestants to New York c. 1709 [Palatinate Immigration].

In about 1740 in either Pennsylvania or HRE depending on his immigration date, Jacob married an unknown spouse.

Jacob is noted for being the father of John Hains of Bedford Co PA. There were probably three sons, Vandle, Joseph, and John. Vandle appears in the 1790 Bedford Co PA Census as head of household along with two other grown males. Joseph appears in the 1778 Cumberland Valley Twp Tax List. Nothing more is known of these sons.

Jacob died in Cumberland Valley Twp, Bedford Co before completion of the 1778 tax list.

Note: Baptisms and marriages performed at the four Dutch Reformed Church of the Delaware Valley were recorded at Machackemeck (Deerpark) Church of Ulster (now Orange) County, New York. Additionally, itinerant preachers maintained their own personal records including Rev. Joh. Casparus Fryenmuth and Rev. Elias Van Bennschoten. [Minisink Dutch Reformed Church]
